Suar

A tree that grows for a century to become a table.

Suar (Samanea saman), also known as the rain tree, grows to enormous size in the Indonesian tropics. Its wood has a deep caramel tone with dark streams of figure and pale sapwood along the edge – no two slabs look the same.

We choose the wood in Bali with local craftsmen – the trunks, the grain and the drying. It travels to Czechia by sea, and here the tables are finished, oiled and fitted with their bases.
